tEXTURED trAVELS

It was such a great opportunity to get to exhibit some images from my art series, Textured Travels. I was selected to be the featured artist at Martha Spak Gallery at the Wharf in Washington, DC. It is a very new area with a lot of great architecture and new developments taking place. For the first time I wrote reflections for each of the images shown during the exhibition.

RADIUS250

 5.26.17 - 6.18.17
Crystal City, VA

This was such a great location in an industrial section of Richmond, VA. It was amazing to see so many people come out for an art show. There were two art openings in the same building along with many artists opening up their studios. It was awesome to check out the scrap store they had inside the building as well. There were over 80 artists in this Radius250 show featuring all those that were accepted that live within 250 miles of the Artspace Gallery.

ARTOMATIC is a non-profit, volunteer-run 501(c)3 organization that organizes and hosts a large arts festival occurring every 12-18 months in the DC metropolitan area, usually in a commercial location slated for demolition.  Artomatic’s mission is to create community, build audience and expand economic development by transforming available space into a playground for artistic expression.
The event is unjuried (first-come-first-served) and showcases creative work in visual art, music, film, performance, and fashion. The 2012 Artomatic attracted about 1700 artists and performers and over 70,000 visitors.
We also license other events in other locations, such as Artomatic@Frederick, held in Frederick, MD, and are currently expanding and building our licensing program stateside and internationally.
Artomatic is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors and is funded in part by the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, an agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. See more about the volunteer teams that make Artomatic possible.

I was located in room 7402.  Below is a timelapse of the install process and the programs I participated in during that time. Check out my youtube channel for more.

Featuring: Héctor Cataño, Eric Celarier, Alexis Gomez, Sarah Jamison, Ashley Ja’nae, Zofie Lang, Kelly Posey, Katie Pumphrey, Renée Regan, Julie Wills

Process & Practice comprises painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media installations and assemblages. Both the diverse and interrelated practices of each artist lend themselves to the unique notion of a collective. Noting the physical, mental, social, psychological, and spiritual processes of each artist, the exhibition motivates the work to reveal its origins, ultimately prompting the viewer to move beyond what they simply see. Open February  17th - March 19th 2017

RAW SPECTRUM

04/27/14

RAW :   Washington DC presents SPECTRUM

To provide independent artists within the first 10 years of their creative career with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity. RAW ventures to provide the platform for these artists to be seen, heard, and loved.

RAW showcases indie talent in visual art, film, fashion design, music, performance art, hair and makeup artistry, and photography.

RAW is a fun and alternative way for artists to showcase both to their local community and the world-at-large.
We are not your average art show. We are loud, colorful, creative, and all about our artists. We are RAW.

This was the first time I'd been able to showcase my artwork
