In this sculpture series, Suspended Shrines I’m exploring the beauty in the discarded not just physically, but mentally as well. What is it about the overlooked corners and cast aside objects that so intrigues me? It is the understanding of that intense feeling of worthlessness that compels me to save such things from becoming forgotten. It is in this way that each of my Suspended Shrines has a purpose to not only rescue the doo-dads, but to also glorify the integral moments in my life that I may have forgotten. Shrines to moments where I finally heard myself and was able to see the light will act as beacons for future times where I’ll have forgotten again and fallen into another darkness.
